Bad Day

Today, did I like today? NOO! Today was horrible, terrible absolutely dreadful because…… IT SNOWED!!!! I didn’t want it to snow today. Its May. May is spring, not winter. I hate winter when it’s in the wrong spot. I like winter when it’s in December, because that’s my birthday. I like it in January and February too. But snow in may? Whoever heard of snow in may after it was just a really hot day outside!

Has mother nature gone crazy? Or does she just have the flu and sneezes a lot so snow comes down?

So at first, I woke up and was like, “hhm, rain.” Then I noticed it seemed to be going slow. And I knew it was snow because it turned white. So I ate my breakfast in the van, but first I had to go out and get my football out of the snow, because it was my special one. Then I had to get the mail. It was soaked but it survived.

School was just like normal. Today I finished my story of “the three little ostriches and the big bad nothing.” It’s a funny story. If you could hear it you would probably think it was funny too. So after that I started another story called “the three little salmon and the big bad grizzly bear.” I thought it’d be good because they’re kind of rivals or something. At projects, we worked on our model grain bin. We’re learning about corn, by the way. So we were working on our grain bin and we were doing pretty good but we need a way to get the corn up through the auger. We were doing sort of good but we ran out of time so I guess we’ll work on it tomorrow.

Well lunch and recess, same. But at recess we got to play this game called Trouble and I had to be red and a kid, my friend named Ryan, he was one space away from getting his last person home, and it was 10, but I got a six on my turn and got to roll again and got a five so I got home and I won the game. My friend Ryan got second, my friend Cooper got third but my friend Sophie got last. I was pretty happy that I beat a kid who everybody thought was perfect at stuff – Ryan – aka Mr. Perfect.

Today at bright horizons, a place that I hate, that’s my after-school place, we couldn’t go outside, because of course, it was SNOWING. So the stupid thing was we had to stay in the same darn spot the whole time, and we couldn’t even go to the gym, which would have been boring too, but not as boring as where we were. Finally my mom came and picked me up. We went to my brother’s school and picked him up. We went home and had this awesome supper called thai chicken. It was thai chicken with rice and peanut butter sauce, and that made it good. And there were peanuts and cilantro or herbs and cucumbers, green onions. It was hot. And I like hot stuff. But when I took a bite of the rice, I spit it out because it was way too hot. Way way way too hot. So I drank some water and that was cold and it hurt my nerves. Then I decided to go outside and get some pictures of what winter was like in May. The tulips were surviving. The poor red tulip bent down. I hope it didn’t die. I walked around. Me and my brother had a mini snowball fight. Nobody hit anybody. Then I came in. That was my boring day. Except for the good dinner by my mom. She’s a good cook. A really, really, really, really, really good cook. The end.

My brother bo’s side of the story:
I had a good day. I had a yummy breakfast. Pancakes. And Gavin wasn’t here. And the supper was really good. The goodest part of the supper was the bread and the cucumbers and the onions. And I really liked the peanuts. And the blackberries tasted really good and there was just three strawberries. And I had a good day. I watched one Curious George.  And I am about to go to bed. And I taked a bath. And that’s my story. And I did quiet reading time at my preschool.

And now that’s my reading. There. That’s it. That’s my reading. There’s my story. It’s not that much of a long one like Mazy’s. And me and my brother played football downstairs. And my brother taked a shower. And my mom named me Bo. And my mom has glasses and she has blonde hair. And she has flowers on her pants. And black pants! And that’s it.

Bulldog Burgers

Well, today we were not planning to come here. We were actually planning to go to a bunch of Mexican places. My mom said if I helped with moving cleaning she would take me to a awesome hotel called Honey creek. We were actually going to go to Jethro's Barbecue on Thursday But we were going to Honey creek on Thursday so we went to Jethro's today.

When we got there it was packed so we went around the restaurant and found a fine parking space by the sign (if you can't see me that well i might have went back too far).

One reason I like Jethro's is because it has TVs everywhere. Number 2 reason because it has a bunch of barbecue sauces to choose from. Number 3 reason their food is awesome.
Do you know who Adam richman is? He is from man V.S. food. He came here and lost the challenge!!!!

I choose the sandwich called papa's,with waffle fries. I had to make my own sandwich so I put fries on it.
All the flavors in my sandwich were amazing together. The smoky burnt taste on the sandwich went perfect with the juicy taste on the inside of the burger. The damp leafy taste of the lettuce went great with the garlicky taste of the onions. The cheese and the bread and the tomatoes were not a flavor combination.
I rated the different barbecues here is what I think: Carolina barbecue 1. Georgia barbecue 1. Hot barbecue 8. White barbecue 9. Jethro's barbecue 10.If I were a judge, I would say the owner of Jethro's wins $500,000,993!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!The end.please tell me what you think of how I described the flavors.Thank you to everybody who commented on my very first review that I typed by myself yesterday. And my mom did not type a single thing on this.

The Blue Cheese Goop

This week I got a school break so that's why I was eating out on a Monday. We didn't know we were going to go here in the first place. I'll tell you the story of what was happening before that.

We were planning on going to a restaurant called the tamale factory. But it was closed. So I said I wanted to go to a dive. So we went up west. We first found subway but thats a really popular place. Next we found a restaurant called lily or it might have been pronounced another way but we didn't pick that place. Next we found several mexican restaurants that were all no no's. Next we found a italian restaurant but we were not interested in italian food. Then we got to beaverdale. We found some restaurants that we were interested in. One of them was called flara's. Since it was in cursive we knew it       was a fancy restaurant. And plus it looked a little to fancy but my mom liked the chairs. Next we tried a  place called good son's. I saw a bud light sign so i figured it was a american food place. So we had to walk through the freezing cold wind. When we got there the restaurant was.....CLOSED!!!! I was mad at that point because we walked through the freezing cold for nothing. Well there was another restaurant called tally's. So we walked through the wind to the restaurant. We found a restaurant finally.
When we got to the restaurant, the first thing that was good about the restaurant was that it was pretty warm inside. But when I saw the atmosphere in the room I thought it was a vegetarian place but when I saw the bacon wrapped radishes on the menu I knew this was going to be a me friendly place. And guess what there was for an appetizer? bacon wrapped  radishes with blue cheese fondue. But the funky thing about it was that instead of bread there was bacon wrapped radishes. I think the best thing about it was that the creaminess of the cheese mixed with the crunch of the radish and the tenderness of the bacon I just think that that was a awesome mix.

Then I ordered my lunch. I got a B.L.T. wrap. I got it because I thought it sounded cool. For a side I got tally's chips. They are tally's homemade potato chips. I like them because they have seasoning on them the seasoning added a little pop of flavor to the dull taste in the salt. I think that adding the seasoning to the chips was very creative. The B.L.T. wrap was very good. It did not taste like a normal B.L.T. for some reason the mayo or the bread made the lettuce taste better. The tomatos made no difference. But I think having IOWA cider bacon was the key flavor. Plus it was pretty messy. The end. Other info: mazy typed it this time. If i can keep writing my reviews I will do them whenever I get the chance. Please give me your opinion if wether  you want my mom to type my reviews or if you want me to type my reviews.

Avengers Food

This is the first in "eating food I see in movies" blogs. This is No. 1: The Avengers. If you've seen Avengers, you'll know what I'm talking about today. At the very end, Iron Man invites all the Avengers to go to a restaurant and they all get the same thing: a beef shawarma.

And today we went to a restaurant, The Cafe, that had that! The Cafe is up in Ames, by where my mom and dad went to college. It's by Iowa State. Well, somewhat close to it.
At first, I was wondering what shawarma was and then my dad told me it was from the end of Avengers. Then I kind of remembered it, and he said they were all eating shawarma  So then I remembered it and I was like, "Hmmm." When it was my turn to order, I told the waitress, "I want beef shawarma," that's also what my dad got, too.
So as I was waiting for my food they had these things called wiki sticks. They were like little wax strands that you can stick together and make almost anything out of them. I was making people and playing around with them. I was waiting for my food to come.
Before I got my food, I ordered an iced tea. Here is a new thing that you probably don't know yet. For my New Year's resolution I said I will not be drinking pop anymore. So you won't see it in any of my reviews.

The beef shawarma came with cous cous that had tomatoes, cucumbers, green onions and parsley. They tasted really fresh and it was OK. I have to say, it wasn't my favorite. But the shawarma was the really good part. First it tasted like a gyro, and I love gyros.
In the shawarma there was shaved beef, cole slaw and pickled vegetables and it came with two dipping sauces. One was a ranchy kind that I really liked and the other tasted like tomato soup to me, I didn't like it at all. And since I loved the shawarma so much, I could only eat two pieces since I also ate a huge piece of baked potato pizza. It was very funky. My mom got it because she loves baked potatoes.

So I took home two pieces of shawarma and later in the afternoon, ohhhh my stomach wasn't feeling that good. It must have been the seasoning on the potatoes on the pizza. But anyways, the shawarma was a really good sandwich and I'm going to take one piece of my leftovers to lunch tomorrow.
My dessert was chocolate cake. I asked my mom if I could have the chocolate candy piece that was on top of it. But I hated it! Guess what it was? A Whopper! I hate those. You guys might like those but I don't. The cake was very chocolatey and tasted good. The frosting was very sweet. I liked it. But I really wanted my dad's cake. It was a lemon one with fresh fruit on the sides because it was so rich.

We were at the restaurant today because it was my dad's birthday and you always have to go to where the birthday boy wants to eat. So we went to The Cafe. I was not in school because it was Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

That's all for today's review.

I might try to have French fondue next because that's what they had in Captain America.

Hanson Brothers Review Village Inn Breakfast

4-year-old Bo's review of his breakfast at Village Inn on Euclid Ave./E. 14th St. in Des Moines, Iowa:

King of the Restaurant, Best Food!
I had that, like, awesome thing with bacon. It was like a happy face with like a bacon mouth. And it taste so good and awesome. When I was almost done, I disappeared to the other side of the couch. Under something. And then I keeped disappearing there and disappearing there and that's when I was done. The end. That's my story. The end, I said!

And I was just checking out food on the menu I brought home. For all of you. I had a restaurant. And that's how my story is complete. I'm done. The end.

Bo and his happy face breakfast.

Bo actually ate his scrambled eggs. The first time he has ever willingly eaten scrambled eggs in his life.

 The smiley face pancake meal

Almost 8-year-old Mazy's review of his breakfast at Village Inn:

The Medieval Village Inn with Dragon-Tale Soup!
We went to the Village Inn and I got something that everybody likes -- I got bacon, scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and a waffle! And the waffle tasted strange because I put a little too much butter and a little too much syrup on it so I gave it to my dad. And the eggs tasted like normal scrambled eggs. The bacon was hickory smoked bacon and I liked that about it. I don't know what hickory smoked means but I liked it. The cottage cheese was just like normal cottage cheese and I liked it.

I got a hot chocolate to drink. It was good. It was just normal hot chocolate with whipped cream.

It was a good restaurant. I want to go there some other time. We could go for lunches. Or for dinners. And there are some pies there I really want to try.

Village Inn is a very good restaurant and you should go to it anytime you can. And that is the end. The end, I said. And I am the king so you have to do what I say. The end! Just kidding!

Oh, my birthday is coming up this weekend! December 8th! And I'm going to have it at the wildlife shelter. I'll have an awesome cake that I will pick out what goes on it and it will be very fun! And I want to be a football player when I grow up. Not a scientist. I was fascinated in science but then I wanted to get money because I thought I would be rich if I was a scientist but then I found out I would just work on stuff all the time that would be really hard to understand. And I just got fascinated by football. And football sounds really cool. That's why I want to do it. My favorite football team is the Green Bay Packers. And if you can, please send comments that tell me your favorite football team. I already know my Grandma Katy's and my Uncle Troy's favorite teams. And that's basically all I know. And I know my friend Cooper's already. He likes the Green Bay Packers also. This is my persuasive piece. I am persuasing you to go to Village Inn. The end.

Noodles and Funky Drink Dispenser Place

Today we went to Noodles and Company and I got a spicy cesar chicken wrap and chicken noodle soup. The sandwich was really good. The sauce was really good, and the chicken tasted good. And it had crunchy stuff in it. It wasn't on bread, it was on a tortilla or something. Oh, it was on a pita wrap. It tasted good with the sauce and the ingredients, like the grilled chicken, lettuce and Parmesan. The Parmesan cheese has a strong taste because it is an "aged" cheese whatever that means.

The soup had chicken and noodles because it was chicken noodle soup. The soup tasted strong and it tasted good, but my favorite was the noodles. I liked them better than the chicken and the soup. The noodles were big, swirly noodles. And they tasted good!

And I got a drink from a funky drink dispenser. I liked it because it was funky-looking and it was like a Kindle Fire touchscreen! There was a button that said "ice" and you put your glass there and the ice came out. And then you pushed another button and all the kinds of pop came up on the screen. Then you picked the pop you liked and it came out. I got a pop that was Diet Dr. Pepper with Cherry Vanilla. It was good.
I liked Noodles and Company because I like noodles and I like their drink dispenser and their sandwiches. I'm going to go to that restaurant again and try to get a cesar sandwich. The other thing I wanted on the menu was a MMMeatballs sandwich! I'm going to get it next time I come.

This restaurant is in Des Moines, Iowa. It's close to my school and Blum Family Chiropractics. Warning: If you get the MMMeatball sandwich don't you dare tell me what it tastes like. Bye!

Miso Restaurant

Tonight I went to Sakura Hibachi Express. It is a Japanese restaurant that's very close to McDonald's (on Euclid Ave., about a block west of E. 14th St.), which is weird because McDonald's is fast food and it's not that good for you and Sakura is local food and it's good. All Japanese restaurants are good if they have sushi. Cause sushi is my favorite food. You already knew that.

So I got a spicy crawfish sushi roll, which tasted really good and pretty spicy, but really, really, really good. It tasted so good that I wanted to eat all of it but I ate only two pieces so Keesia could have two and Shawn could have two.
Then I got a small steak hibachi. Their steak was really good tasting. It tasted tender and juicy, and I liked that. It tasted kind of rich but really, really, really good.
Hibachi is a food with rice and a kind of meat, and it has zucchini, broccoli and onions. Hibachi is often cooked in a big table in front of you and I've seen people do that in front of me. And that was fun. But at this restaurant they just made it in a kitchen and sold it to you like if you were going to Zombie Burger or other local places.
The pricing was pretty good! It was one of the best $7 meals that you can get in Des Moines. Well, what I mean by $7 is that it's pretty cheap. And it came with miso soup. It was really hot when I got it, steaming hot, boiling hot! Volcano hot! That kind of hot. Well, really hot. So I took a little sip and it was still hot, so I kept blowing and sipping and blowing and sipping and when I got done I felt full because it was so much miso soup. And then I started drinking it out of the bowl and for some reason it made me burp. And then my stomach felt full, and it felt really gooey and so I went to the bathroom. And then I felt better. It was just a lot of miso soup I guess.

Warning: Never get too much miso soup at this place. Because their bowls are huge and hot!

Make sure to go to Sakura Hibachi Express because I really like that restaurant. Get steak hibachi and their crawfish sushi is very good. You should also try that. Now make sure to catch the next segment of Food Adventures with Mazy Hanson!
